During the weekend I thought about what to weave and decided on the story of Odin search for knowledge from Eddan. So today I did some research on it and wrote down the important images of the story, and then I started going through the Överhogdal tapestries for images that would work. Then I had a rough battle with the printer and different printing software and after an hour or two I had almost all the pictures printed and coloured using colour pencils. Glue the first things to my paper copy of my tapestry ready to start working tomorrow. I also took all my two-ply yarn and strung it up on a string so I could see what I hade to work with color-wise later.

Today I started weaving the border on the far right short side of the final tapestry. The Överhogdal tapestries are all possibly woven from right to left, Tapestry number two is for certain so I will do the same. On the picture, my teacher is showing me the technic know as Sumak that I will use.

At
the beginning of doing something new I always work a bit slow but
as the border is just to rinse and repeat I quickly got the hang of
that part. I have hung the paper copy of my tapestry behind the loom
so I can see what I should weave were. The Viking women that wove the
originals would probably not have this luxury.
