Week 35 (Warping and selvage stick)

Weaver's log, Earthdate 06102014
Monday again and my teacher is back and we had a meeting talking about the week that past and how I had done on my own. She thought I had done good and set up the goal that I should be finished with the weaving preparations before the holiday at week 44, which I thought were a bit excessive but she knows what she is talking about so I guess its an accurate assessment. Thread count 70 done today.

That it's already 7th of October is crazy in my mind, today's thread count done where whooping 158 using the bobbins instead of the balls of thread work so much faster.

Today I have warped 86 threads to a total of 392/574 threads so slowly am getting there. One thing that I have pondered overdoing this is how incredibly tuff it must have been on the women that did it back in the day, by our standards I am working in poor lighting and it is really taking its toll on my concentration. And they would just have had their fire and maybe some tallow candles if lucky. It's really incredible what amazing fabrics they made under those circumstances.

As I hinted in the last post this work is really giving my psyche a real beating and I long for the day then it's over. Thread count for today where 124 so one more day and I will be done with this step, unfortunately, one of the bobbins ran out of yarn and the other doesn't have much left so I have to get more yarn and put it on a bobbin.

Friday and the last day of warping for this time, as I hade to bobbin some more I didn't finish until lunch but am done so that doesn't matter. After lunch, I joined the textile class and their wood class. I finished a stick that is going to attach the warp selvedge that I have been weaving the warp threads to and then attach that to the beam. I also did a beating sword.
