Week 33 (Felting and getting the warp weighted to working order)

Weaver's log, Earthdate 24092014
I arrived back today and as I got back after lunch I felt that I didn't have time to start working on my project so I joined the textile students. Thay was felting this week so I didn't mind doing it as I think its fun. I finished a hat I started when I did the base year of textile here.

I had so much fun felting yesterday that I stayed and worked with it today too. Unfortunately, the wool I were to use were scraps from the spinnery and it didn't come in a matt of carded wool as last time so I hade to card it myself, so that took the bigger part of the day to do. Then I felted a test square to see how much it will shrink. later I will do a gift felted in the same wool.

Friday and as I have been with the textile class, I helped them to clean and sate with them on the ''this is what we have done this week'' meeting and the teacher showed some of her work as she has a business selling felted stuff and I really got a liking for Nuno felt. On the afternoon I worked on the beam for my warp-weighted loom as I have the drill bit now, I was able to create a half-circle of 50mm as a guide to making the outtake of the beam to be round and flow free in the beamholders.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 27092014 As I will use the loom on Monday well I plan on it anyway, I have to finish it so it is in working order at least. As I have a lot of decorations planned for it I will not get it entirely complete now. I glued the beamholders in place and tomorrow I will tidying things up.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 28092014 I add a plank at the bottom to separate the shed then weaving and to stabilise the loom. I also worked on thining the sticks that work as the shaft to fit the holders in the loom. I also remeasured the bundle of fabric that was to short by about 3 meters and this time I got it to little over 19 so am happy with that working out not being such a big issue anymore.
