Week 31 (Finnish the weft and red oker experiment)

Weaving goes on and I'm feeling the end is ner...of this weft at least.

Remember the blue sheep. Today I have found red and some more of the blue one. Also, today were the day I hade been longing for so long. Today I finished the weft, I wove about 237cm today which is just wow in my opinion. Now am going to let it rest overnight and tomorrow I will measure how long it got.

Today it was time to measure the fabric and as I hadn't marked out each meter as I hade done on the first one. I measured one measuring tape eg. 150 cm and then made a mark on a paper next, to me the sad thing that I discovered where I wear 3 meters shorter then I expected and I hade woven way closer then I hade calculated to the warp beam. This has puzzled me greatly. I will remeasure it and see if I just missed marking 3 times if I didn't miss to mark I will add it to the warp-weighted weaving part.

today we hade sort of an open house showing at a cafe in Sveg promoting the craft courses here at school and we did this by doing crafts at the cafe, I worked on the birthday gift for my friend and did some embroidering on what will become a small bag for dice and such.

Saturday for some a day to relax but not for me, I have worked on the warp-weighted loom again and after some hours work I came to the conclusion that it's not enough to work on the beam holders to make the beam fit but I have to make the beam outtakes more round and for that, I need a 50mm drill to make a guide then I file more material of it. So the rest of the day in the woodshop was spent making this whatever it is.

A classmate is experimenting with extracting red oker, and today was the day she was going to rost it, starting on a hot plate but it was too cold so we moved over to a forge and it worked a lot better. In total, she had four samples from different places and here are the before and after roasting shots of them.
