Week 39 (Start weaving on the warp-weighted loom)

Today I finished heddeling the second layer but more importantly Today was a very special day for me. Today 10 years ago were the first day I set my foot on this school as an intern, this was celebrated with a cake and watching Grease.

One step remand before I could start weaving and that is to put a crochet chain along each layer to even out the threads, so they don't hang in groups with their weights, it works somewhat like reeds in a floor loom. I also did one of the experiment once we talked about doing last semester with a stick instead.

So it was here, the day I did my first pick. You don't use a shuttle in a warp-weighted instead, you can use something called un Uddo that is what the Sea Sami call this little doll, there are other things you can use to but here at school, it's the primary technique used.

Today there was a big flea market in town and at it, I bought this little axe and this encyclopedia for textile stuff. The encyclopedia cost me a little more than £4, according to one of the teachers here she paid nearly £40 for hers and she thought that was a bargain. So am very happy.
