Week 37 (heddeling the .warp-weighted loom)

A new week has started and its time to start heddeling, the Teknik I got to use this time is not the same that I used last time I wove on a warp-weighted loom so my teacher had a small class with me on how the sea sampi does it. It took some time to get used to but after a while, I picked up some speed. It's really fiddly to take the right threads though, so again the concentration has to be at max. I also found another interesting weight today. A piece of un old terracotta flowerpot.

still heddeling but am nearly done with the third layer. I am using a piece of red string to keep track of their I am in the warp and without it, I would be so lost.

I finished layer three and where to start on the second layer then I notice some threads that were in places that they shouldn't be, this resulted in me calling my teacher and what I thought would be a quick fixe just grow with time. All the red strings are threading errors. Luckily for me, most original fabrics from the period got some too so am fine with it.

I started heddeling layer two today, my teacher said it would be easier but I am uncertain if I agree as I see it, it's hard to comper the two layers as it feels like a whole new experience. As I started going throw it I fond more threading errors however and solving them as good as I can have made it all take a lot longer then I was hoping.

As the fall holiday is starting tomorrow today mostly involved packing and a class meeting talking about what we have done so far and what our future plans for the projects will be.
