Week 29 (Plant dying and tipi cosyness)

Today was the first day of the third term on the project. Today I have been on an introduction meeting with the new textile class, sadly they are only four students in that class but it's a great group and I'm looking forward to the plant daying we will do the coming days.

Today was the first day of this years plant dyeing with the new textile class. We plucked and boiled heather and a mix of black crowberry greenery and berries for dyeing tomorrow.

We saved the plant soup and prepare the yarn for dyeing. As a get to know each other the entire school had to pick 2dl of blueberries, not the best way to get to know each other but it made a great pie.

On the agenda today we hade crap, cochineal and Iceland moss. I dyed some of the yarn I dyed last year that turned out a greyish pink-red, and I will be using it as the inlay for the Viking garment I talked about at the beginning of the log.

I did the first weaving today it felt nice to start again after such a long time away from it. At the beginning of each fall semester, a cafe in Sveg have an ice cream buffet to empty their stock after the summer, it was so yummy. We have a tipi here at school and we hade decided that we were to sleep in it tonight so we made some sweets. By boiling a can of condensed milk, you get fudge apparently be careful though as the can explodes if it boils too hard. We also tried to boil an egg on a stick over an open flame and it worked.

This is the yarns we dyed at the beginning of the week. The six on the front row from the right are my yarns.
