Week 19 (First roll of fabric done)

Weaver's log, Earthdate 07012014
Start of the second term. I did not finish until the new year as I was going for, unfortunately. I have been weaving on the holiday but on the 28th I think I miss read my weave note and thought I should weave 22 meters and not 19 so I gave up on the idea that I should finish to the start of school so I could join the textile course on this weeks project. Today I realised that it was 19 that was my goal and that 22 where the length of the warp. I wove 1,2 meters today and got only about 60cm left for tomorrow.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 08012014
After I had woven the 60 I hade about 150cm warp left, so I concluded that I probably skipped one meter somewhere probably some wear between 10 and 11. But now it's all done at least and it feels great.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 09012014
My teacher wanted me to weave some extra in case it shrinks more then we have calculated so I started with that but after about 7 cm the warp started to break all over the place and I decided that I was done.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 10012014
Today I Whipstitched the edges and cut it down. I got a huge adrenalin rush from it, I did not expect that. On the class meeting after lunch, I reviled the big stack of fabric and my class rejoiced over my accomplishment. Later that evening a friend and old-timer of the school came to visit with the intention to do some experiments, one of them were to make copper from Malachite. It was great fun to watch the experiment.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 11012014
Had some plans for today but as usual, on a weekend I did not fulfil them. Hade a good day anyway thouge.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 12012014
As for Saturday I did not get much done today mostly chilling.

Week 18 (One last summaries before Christmas)

Weaver's log, Earthdate 16122013- 22122013 Agen, I will summarise the week. I am getting closer to the finish line now, and on Friday I almost finished my baggy pants. I am now having a break over Christmas and will not write anything for the following week. So Merry Christmas to all of you.

Week 17 (Disappointments but pass 11 meters)

Weaver's log, Earthdate 09122013- 15122013
I am going to summerise this week in one single post. I have not worked as good as I need to this week and am really disappointed at myself for it. On the other hand, I have now past the 11-meter mark so I get some done and that's better than nothing.

Week 16 (Sick week and not in a positive way)

Weaver's log, Earthdate 02122013
when I woke up today my tonsils where like golf balls so I decided that I had to accept that I am sick and not stay in the illusion that I have lived in for some weeks now. So today's activities reached so far as to stay in bed and sleep me healthy.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 03122013
Tried to weave today but I didn't feel too good so I crawled back to the hole I call my room.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 04122013
Felt better in my throat today so I got some weaving done, but not much as I started after lunch.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 05122013
Apparently, I did not put up the shaft sticks and loosen the warp before I left on Wednesday, and today I had to pay the price for it, has fixed so many threads today. So the final weave length of today was only 48cm after a day of weaving that is not good for me at all.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 06122013
After this week's low productivity I looked forward to a day of productivity, but no. I woke with a horrible headache and neck pain so been confined to my bed again.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 07122013
I did not get better in my neck during the night so I did not only miss more weave time but also the winter market in town today.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 08122013
My neck still hurts and am getting more and more frustrated about it. The pain doesn't bother me that much it's more that I cant weave that bothers me.

Week 15 (Dyeing wool with Kool-aid)

Weaver's log, Earthdate 25112013
Monday again and First of December is getting ner, slowly I start to feel the pressure to finish this weave until the new year. Unfortunately, I got really dizzy today, almost like I would pass out so I spent most of the day in bed.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 26112013
Last days a huge amount of rest gave me newfound energy and today I really got the weaving going.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 27112013
Today started with a dilemma, I found two pins on the side that I use as markings for different things. The thing is that I could not remember as they hade the same colour on the head, so I picked one out and the other one I decided where for where I started with the latest batch of bobbins. I have now switched those out for one with a blue head for the bobbin baches and a red one for where I start weaving each day. We and by we I mean my class got a visit from the textile class today to talk about our projects. It was fun.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 28112013
The most exciting thing that has happened so far today, is that there was a lecture on Viking textiles. I found it quite informal and refreshing with the change of scenery from that I have in the basement.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 29112013
Started the day by oversleeping, not the greatest start but I quickly picked up speed and wove a good amount. I also hade a class meeting where we discussed things about the warp-weighted loom again, it seems like it is a topic we can't get enough of. I also had my first contact with Kool-aid today, not in the way you might think thou. I dyed yarn with it. It was really simple and scary how this is feed to kids. To dye with it, just slowly raise the temperature of the yarn as you should so it doesn't get shocked. Then mix the powder in a mug with boiling water and stir, pour it over the yarn and then top it with hot water and run it in the microwave for 5min then flip the yarn and run it 5 min more. This proses can be redone as much as you want, it's for fastening the colour. And to see what colour each flavour gives look at the glass in the corner of the pack.
As I look on the Kool-aid page I see that there are some powders with sweeteners, stay away from those get unsweetened once.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 30112013
I totally lost my motivation today, don't know what happened. At dinner, I got told that they were continuing with the musical marathon today. So I went over there with the intention to finish my leg wraps but fame was not a movie that I could do stuff while I was watching, at least not things I had to concentrate to so I did some sewing on my pants and now I only have to wrinkle the legs and fold the seams and am done.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 01122013
I did not weave today either, didn't feel to god, to be honest. But I think I will weave up what I have missed this weekend pretty fast.

Week 14 (Shortest post ever)

Weaver's log, Earthdate 21112013
I wove 134cm today which is a record for me I think.

Week 13 (Thread braking)

Weaver's log, Earthdate 11112013
I overslept until lunch today so my schedule that I hade thought out went to shreds. So I only got half a day of weaving done today so I stayed until seven to make up for the hours I lost in the morning. Quite fast I realised that this warp is not the strongest, I really hope they will not break this much the whole length.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 12112013
Overslept again, only to the coffee break at ten luckily enough. But my teacher didn't look too happy that she saw me after the break. I really have to figure out why I am so tired. Threads keep on braking today too, so I am trying to not really beat it when I pull in the inlay and only beat it after I have switched tredel.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 13112013
The beating test didn't work so good so today I will beat it more like short wrist movements close to the fabric hope this will work. Other than that am really pleased with the fabric am getting.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 14112013
The warp still brakes way to often so now I have moved to the third and hopefully final test on beating it without threads breaking. I basically lean backwards and use my body weight to beat it. So far I can't see any difference in the quality from then I did beat it hard. Not sure if it helps the threads to stay intact yet thou.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 15112013
On what I can tell this new way of beating have reduced the number of threads braking dramatically. I hade a class meeting today and as always its fun to see what my classmates are up to. One of them had found a new way of spinning that sounded very interesting, and he was to experiment with it some more.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 16112013
In my plan of 316cm a week, I included the weekends as well so I did some weaving today as well.

Weaver's log, Earthdate 17112013
Didn't do as much weaving as I needed today but you have to take a break someday right.
