I only got the sleeves cut last week so I started to sew them on, unfortunately, I did so backwards.
Now that is better, after that I needed some gussets and after some math, I cut them out.
It didn't look right on the chest so I tried to sew it a bit higher up and it got a bit better, but what helpt was then I added a belt it felt like I was home.

The teacher is back and I got more yarn to finish my shirt fabric, it's amazing how much colours change then they are next to other colours.

Then I was done my teacher asked me if I was interested in weaving out a rug warp that in one of the looms, she showed me the original rug, talked some about it, she thought it would be best for me to do it as a rag rug as its a lot cheaper than the yarn it was in originally and I was happy to go with it as I have never done a rag rug.
We also hade a quick talk about my Viking cloth and I presented the garment with cut schematic and that. She remembered she hade samples of Viking reproduction cloth that she is going to look for.

A few things with this rug that is a bit different from most rag rugs, first, its a hank and not plain weave and second every other inlay are in a natural flax tow 1,5 yarn. I prepared the loom as it was cut down then I came to it so I hade to remount it. I didn't weave any today only looked through the rug stock that the school has. I decided to go for some browns to start with. Then I hade to learn a very important skill in rag rug weaving and that is connecting the stumps, if you leave the turns you get when you cut the rags you get little ears that pop out, you could use this in your design if you want. I used two methods to connecting them, one is sawing with a machine and the other is a knot/braid, I used both as I wanted to test them both and on the very short rags, I didn't have the temperament to wrestle with the machine that much.

Then I found this ball I fell in love, think I would have done pretty well back in the seventies.
